Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Priceless Gift

Friendship has lifted our spirits, filled our hearts, and touched our souls. The laughter and joy you are helping us find again are priceless. You are chosen, a gift to us, and His spirit has filled you with wisdom to walk our journey with us.

"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues, put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity." Colossians 3:12-14

We have learned true friends put on love no matter what, they live real life with you. Spending time with them is worship, and healing for our hearts. This is the love for which we are created. Your love has filled us and taught us to love deeper. For that we are forever full of gratitude.

With this counting of thanks, I can feel the anxiety I have carried start to melt away, the shoulders loosen and breathing slow. Breathe, relax, and stop taking all the "stuff" so seriously. The intensity in which I live my life sometimes, He asks me to loosen my grip and instead give it to Him. My hand slowly opens when I give thanks. With this practice gratitude, "living thanks" I receive peace, rest for my weary soul. Trusting Him that He knows better than I do.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28

Growing, waiting, trusting that His timing is perfect. He is doing something in me that is way beyond myself. When we wait on the Lord is when we learn patience. God has given all of us specific promises for our life, even though often we find ourselves waiting for God to work.

The waiting is when we grow, and I have learned that in the valley is when He does a work in us, when He prepares us. In the waiting is when our eyes look from our struggles and troubles and look upwards to Him. In the waiting is when I have turned to Him and poured over His love letter to us that promises over and over how He will care for me. That He is faithful and the ultimate promise keeper.

"Yet those who wait for the Lord
Will gain new strength:
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary." Isaiah 40:31

He holds me...

His voice whispers my name while He holds me so I have hope. I cried out to Him, most times not even knowing what to pray. And He answered, held me up and set my feet on solid ground. True hope does not succumb to despair, this hope that I have found sees the goodness He is working through our journey. No matter what the storm is, He is faithful even when we are faithless.

His love fills my heart and the hope He gives makes way for peace. Peace I have in knowing one day I will hold our son whole and healthy. That there is an eternity far greater than anything I can see or imagine this side of the veil. Peace that when I don't know and can't find the answers I can give it all to Him the comforter. The unexplainable comfort I have in my heart is from Him and Him alone.

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

Enter His gates...

Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and bless his name. Psalm 100:4

Finding a place for God, even in the seemingly mundane isn't that true thanksgiving? To enter into His presence holding up all the small moments, the ones that used to pass me by as my offering. Making this, all these moments a sanctuary. Holding a little tighter, pausing a little longer, noticing more. Then giving Him the glory for the eyes being opened. Reminding myself that patience, pausing, cherishing these are acts of worship. Make time for Him today friends. Take notice of all the pieces of time that could slip by unnoticed, and raise your hearts in worship to Him.

Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again-rejoice! Philippians 4:4

This from a man in prison. But isn't that true joy, not letting the outward circumstances affect our outlook on life? Joy comes from Christ living in us and allowing Him to work through us. When I submit to Him, I live in joy. Stopping to treasure each moment along the way despite the valley we have been walking through.

It is still a daily struggle for me, but He carries me with His strength. And it is a choice that we can all make. Which glasses to put on daily to look at our life. If my choice had not been finding joy, think of all the precious memories I would have not made over the last few months. The miracle of seeing Isaac's eyes close the minute he fell asleep during the ultrasound. Treasuring the message of that precious hand. All of the extra hugs and kisses from Anastacia. Tears and laughter of friends sharing life with us. Feeling the overwhelming love of our Father carrying us.

"Don't be dejected and sad, for the joy of the LORD is your strength!" Nehemiah 8:10

Pure JOY!! Thank you for capturing it Kristi...

To say that Isaac was a fluke or happened by chance is absurd, but that is exactly what I heard from many specialists in the beginning. That babies like him were random, a fluke, it just sometimes "happens." Anastacia has been learning sign language at school, and to see her eyes light up with the realization of how God made Isaac left me undone last week. She came in exclaiming "mom, God made Isaac's hand to say I love you, mom he got to tell us I love you."

Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was excellent in every way. Genesis 1:31

The awe in her voice as she realized how amazing His message through Isaac was is humbling. Nothing happens by chance, God pays attention to every detail within creation, nothing escapes Him. It is not up to us to always understand, but rest in knowing that He cares about all of the intimate details of our lives.

Just as you cannot understand the path of the wind or the mystery of a tiny baby growing in its mother's womb, so you cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things. Ecclesiastes 11:5

How majestic was His whisper of love through the creation of that tiny hand with such a precious message. We catch glimpses of His love for us in the beauty of the creation that surrounds us daily. That love has changed and saved me. His love leaves me humbled. He sees the depths of my heart knowing how broken I am and loves me anyway. His love is the same for you. Despite our brokenness, faults, failures, and selfishness He sent His only son for us.

Breathe deep...

Why is it so often through loss you pull close, wake up and give thanks to moments that went unnoticed a few short months ago. As summer makes way for fall I am learning to pause, breathe deep and seek peace. To "live" and celebrate each moment along the way, for we don't get them back do we? To see that He lives in us always working good on our behalf.

And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. Colossians 3:15

Give thanks to the Lord for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. Psalm 136:1

Reflect & Remember

As we reflect and remember 10 years ago today, and the thousands whose lives will never be the same let us remember that "There is no fear in love. But perfect love casts at all fear..."1 John 4:18

His perfect love casts out all fear, and the void in our hearts is filled by Him and Him alone. We are in need of something greater than ourselves, we are in need of you Lord. You are the light in our darkness. Even when we run from you, you chase with a passion we can't fathom.

"I can never escape from your spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the place of the dead, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me. I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night-
but even in the darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are both alike to you." Psalm 139: 7-12

Let us pray today for our God to be Lord of our nation, the God of our cities.

He slips in and steals hope. He sneaks up and destroys lives. His thrill is killing belief. Nothing excites him more.

The thief's purpose is to steal, kill and destroy...John 10:10

We are in a battle. I used to think that sounded so dramatic, the idea that we are actively in a battle every moment of our lives. It was the picture portrayed by those dramatic evangelists that stood on benches shouting out to me as I walked by on our college campus. And I rolled my eyes. That is Satan's plan, he doesn't want us to know we are at war. He wants the pleasures, excitement, pain, and despair of this world to distract us. He wants to make us forget all God has given us-His grace, strength, love, mercy, forgiveness, and wisdom.

"There is no neutral ground in the universe; every square inch, every split second is claimed by God and counter-claimed by Satan" C.S. Lewis
But the best part of all of it, we have God fighting for us, praying for our faith. Even when our faith falters, He is there for us. We just have to hang on and remember our ally.

"Simon, Simon, pay attention! Satan has demanded to have you all, to sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you Simon, that your faith may not fail. When you have turned back, strengthen your brothers." Luke 22:31-32

When the enemy whispers doubts, despair, and discouragement to us, remember one thing. It is all lies, lies, lies. Trust in God even when everything seems to be going wrong. Hold onto your belief and believe. Doubt those lies and doubts you have circling through your mind. Use God's word and prayer to fight back. When the lies would sneak in I whisper scripture over and over to myself. Often the same one, Proverbs 3:5, a verse I hung onto with every fiber in my body many times over the last few months. God has provided you with the tools to fight this battle.

Therefore, put on every piece of God's armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God's righteousness. For shoes, put on peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6: 13-17

Always be joyful. Keep on praying. No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-19

I am slowly learning to live fully in each moment, to always be thankful. To seek and find God in all of our days. His joy is all around us, we have to remind ourselves to stop, drink fully, and savor. In each day to find thanks.

Anastacia~Is heaven on top of that cloud?

Me~Yes, it could be.

Anastacia~I thought so because Isaac waved to me, he blew me a kiss and I caught it. I blew one back and he put it in his pocket to save it until I get to see him some day.
